Apply for the 2018 Summer Program

Program Dates

June 11 — August 4, 2018

Eligibility

Each year we will recruit 8 students (6 undergraduates and 2 graduates) who must meet the following criteria for the summer 2018 program:

  1. Undergraduate geoscience students entering junior or senior year (graduating after December 2018) or graduate geoscience students (graduating after December 2018)
  2. Minimum GPA 3.0 (undergraduate) and 3.25 (graduate)
  3. Undergraduate students must have completed or currently be enrolled in an introductory geoscience course, such as Physical Geology, Environmental Geology, Earth History, and Natural Hazards
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen
  5. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Financial Support

All student expenses will be covered, including:

  1. Airfare from US to China
  2. Transportation to/from airports in US and China
  3. Room and board in China
  4. Health insurance
  5. Tuition for taking a two-week Chinese language and culture course in China
  6. Weekly stipend of $500/week ($4,000 for 8 weeks)
